A’isha Bint Abu Bakr (child-bride) was Muhammad’s third wife. `A’isha herself narrated, “The Messenger of God married me in Shawwal in the tenth year after of his prophet-hood, three years before the Migration as I was six years old. I was nine years old when he consummated the marriage with me.” Ibn Hisham holds that “Muhammad married her when she was seven years old and consummated the marriage with her when they were in Medina when she was nine years old. The Messenger of God did not marry any other virgin but her.” `A´isha narrated, “The Messenger of God married me when I was still playing with the girls. I did not know that the Messenger of God married me until my mother took me and locked me up in the house. Then I realized that I was married.” A’isha also said, “I was playing with the girls during the lifetime of the Messenger of God. The Messenger of God came to me when I was playing with the girls, and asked me, ‘What is this, `A’isha?’ I said, ‘The horses of Solomon.’ He laughed.”

“I would be playing with my dolls,” narrated A’isha, “with the girls who were my friends, and the Prophet would come in and they would slip out of the house and he would go out after them and bring them back, for he was pleased for my sake to have them there.” Sometimes he would say “Stay where you are” before they had time to leave, and would also join in our games.”

LONDON: Intelligence officials have intercepted a credible terror plot against Britain and France, raising security fears at the Eiffel Tower on Tuesday, but failing to raise the overall threat level in either country.

The Eiffel Tower was briefly evacuated Tuesday evening after officials received a bomb threat called in from a telephone booth. It was the second such alert at the monument in two weeks.

The warning came as French officials were put on alert for possible terror attacks. British officials, too, have been aware of a possible attack but the terror threat warning has not changed from “severe.”

The new fate planned for Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani was announced by Iran’s national prosecutor general, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, at a news conference in Tehran today.

“According to the court’s ruling, she is convicted of murder and her death sentence has priority over her punishment [for committing adultery]”, the Tehran Times reported, citing Mohseni-Ejei.

If you believe the newspapers, a kindergarten in a town built by Jewish refugees from Yemen is about to doom all hopes for peace in the Middle East. Forget the fact that there was never any peace long before a few dozen Jews who fled Yemen built themselves a small town where they could raise their families, without being murdered for their faith or driven into ghettos– as is the fate of the last remaining Jews of Yemen. The very same headline scribblers who chastised Americans as hopelessly racist, for not wanting a mosque to be built where thousands of people had been murdered in the name of Islam, are united in denouncing the terrible evil of this kindergarten. If it were not for this kindergarten, doves would be flying overhead with olive branches. And everyone would be dancing and singing “Kumbaya.” If it weren’t for that specter of that terrible kindergarten ruining it all.

Chairman Lieberman, Senator Collins as you have already noted, the past year has noted the most significant developments in terrorism since 9/11. The three attempted homeland attacks during the past year from overseas based groups, and the two lone-wolf attacks here in the United States, Carlos Bledsoe in Arkansas and Nidal Hassan have surpassed the number and pace of attacks during any year since 9/11.

The range of al Qaeda core, affiliated and allies plotting against the homeland during the past year suggest the threat has in fact grown far more complex and underscores the challenges of identifying and countering a more diverse array of threats to the homeland.

Al Qaeda’s affiliates and allies increasing ability to provide training, guidance, and support for attacks against the U.S. makes it very difficult to anticipate the precise nature of the next attack and from where it might come. The regional affiliates that have grown and allies have been able to compensate to some extent for the decreased willingness of al Qaeda in Pakistan to accept and train new recruits and additional attempts by al Qaeda affiliates and allies to attack the U.S., particularly attempts in the homeland, could attract the attention of even more western recruits, thereby increasing those groups’ threat to the homeland.

And even failed attacks such as AQAP’s and TTP’s attempts this past year due to some extent further al Qaeda’s goal of fomenting terrorist attacks against the West and demonstrate that some affiliates and allies and homegrown terrorists are embracing their vision. Today, al Qaeda in Pakistan is at one of its weakest points organizationally, but I would stress a significant ‘however,’ that the group has time and time again proven its resilience and remains a very capable and determined enemy. The threat as you have noted is compounded significantly by operationally distinct plotting against the U.S. by its allies, affiliates and sympathizers.

And what is the media’s focus? Shilling and promoting a victory mosque at Ground Zero.

German media is reporting that the Munich prosecutor has dropped the most serious charges in an investigation of the leader of the German Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic officials. Ibrahim El-Zayat and the others subjects of the investigation had had been suspected of forming a criminal association and intending to commit a crime by obtaining funds for its “politico-religious and ultimately Islamist goals”, probably in support of Hamas.

Numerous houses and offices belonging to the suspects had been searched in March of last year including the Islamic Center of Munich which is also the home of the German Muslim Brotherhood organization known as the the Islamische Gemeinschaft in Deutschland. Also cleared was Mr. El-Zayat’s business partner Oguz Ücüncü who is the Secretary-General of the Turkish Islamist organization known as Milli-Görüs. A previous post reported on the on the controversy surrounding the German government decision to ban the Council of Islam (Islamrat) from the German-Islam Conference on the grounds that the Council, dominated by the Turkish-based Milli Gorus movement, was under investigation.

TEHRAN (AFP) – Iranian Revolutionary Guards have killed 30 perpetrators of last week’s deadly bombing at a military parade in western Iran, apparently in a cross-border raid in Iraq, state-run media reported Monday.

Abdolrasoul Mahmoudabadi, the Guards commander in the province where the parade was bombed, said those killed included “mercenaries” working for the United States, which he implicated in the bombing, the state-run television’s website reported.

“Thirty of the main elements of the terrorist attack in Mahabad were killed” in an operation on Saturday, Mahmoudabadi said.

Wednesday’s bombing had targeted a military parade in Mahabad in West Azerbaijan province, killing 12 people and wounding at least 81 others. Most of the victims were reported to be women and children.

“These terrorists were comprised of (Iraq’s) old Baathist regime officers and American mercenaries,” Mahmoudabadi said without giving details.

He said the Revolutionary Guards and volunteer Basij militia were involved in the attack.

“The weapons seized from them shows that the American and Israeli intelligence services were behind it (the bombing),” he added.

Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Guards’ ground forces, had implied that the 30 were killed in a cross-border raid in Iraq.

“As soon as the terrorists and other anti-revolutionaries gathered in an area on the other side of the (Iraqi) border, the Guards launched the operation,” the television website reported on Sunday.

Mahmoudabadi also said that two of the agents involved in the bombing had slipped into Iran from Iraq, “so it is necessary for officials of both nations to pursue the case.”

The attack on the parade came as Iran showcased military hardware at anniversary parades across the country commemorating the 1980-88 war with Iraq, in which an estimated one million people died on both sides.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had condemned the Mahabad attack, saying it “underscores the international community’s need to work together to combat terrorism.”

Western Iran, which has a sizeable Kurdish population, has seen deadly clashes in recent years between the Iranian security forces and Kurdish rebel groups, mainly the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) operating from bases in neighbouring Iraq.

The Taliban bombed five schools in a week’s time in the capital, spreading terror in the school-going children and their parents. Badha Bair Police Station Muharrir Mukamil Shah told Daily Times that the Taliban blew up two girls’ schools at Sulmankhel village of Bada Bhair, a suburb area of Peshawar.

(CBS/AP) The Texas State Board of Education adopted a resolution Friday that seeks to curtail references to Islam in Texas textbooks, as social conservative board members warned of what they describe as a creeping Middle Eastern influence in the nation’s publishing industry.

The board approved the one-page nonbinding resolution, which urges textbook publishers to limit what they print about Islam in world history books, by a 7-5 vote.

The proposed Ground Zero mosque in New York City has been a focal point for those wanting to expand Islam’s influence in America, but it’s not the only front on which the nation is facing the advance of Muslim interests.

There are more than 3,000 mosques in the U.S., and work is being done on several major projects that have neighbors alarmed to the point of resistance.

One of the hot-button mosques is the proposed Temecula Valley Islamic Center. Land for the project was purchased several years ago, but a number of people in the Southern California town have an organized campaign to derail the project.
