Yet Muslim spokesmen such as Harris Zafar, Mustafa Akyol, Salam al-Marayati, M. Cherif Bassiouni, and Ali Eteraz (among many others) have assured us that Islam doesn’t punish apostasy.

I expect that Zafar, Akyol, al-Marayati, Bassiouni, and Eteraz will immediately be jetting over to Iran to explain to the authorities of the Islamic Republic that they are getting Islam all wrong, wrong, wrong.

Boko Haram, the Nigerian Islamist terror group that has been linked to al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and Shabaab, killed 11 people in an attack today on a church at a military base in Kaduna. The Nigerian terror group has carried out 19 suicide attacks so far this year; many have targeted churches and mosques.

A Boko Haram suicide bomber rammed a bus packed with explosives into the church during services at the Jaji military barracks in Kaduna state, military officers told Reuters. Ten minutes later, as people were assisting the wounded, a suicide bomber in a Toyota Camry detonated in front of the church. Over 30 people were injured in the blasts, according to the military.

Boko Haram has intentionally attacked churches on Sundays during services in order to kill as many Christians as possible. Earlier this year, Boko Haram stated that it seeks “to eradicate Christians” from areas in Nigeria. The group has repeatedly targeted Christians at churches, especially on religious holidays.

The Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan claimed credit for today’s suicide car bombing at the Pakistani Rangers Headquarters in the southern port city of Karachi. From Dawn:

Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) Spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan said that they have more targets on their list and those who would raise voices against them, the Taliban would target them.He said that the Pakistani Taliban have their network in the country and would operate from wherever they wanted from.

According to media reports, a truck slammed into one of the entrances of the Rangers compound killing one person and leaving more than a dozen, including civilians, injured.

The Taliban and allied terror groups have conducted numerous suicide bombings and attacks against military and civilian targets in Karachi over the years. The most high-profile attack took place in May 2011, when a suicide assault team stormed Pakistani Naval Station Mehran in a coordinated, complex attack. Two P-3C Orion aircraft were destroyed and another was damaged in the attack.

Liberal talk show host Tawfiq Okasha recently appeared on “Egypt Today” airing a video of Muslims slicing a young man’s head off for the crime of apostasy, in this case, the crime of converting to Christianity and refusing to renounce it. The video—be warned, it is immensely graphic—is embedded here (the actual execution appears from minute 1:13-4:00). For those who prefer not to view it, a summary follows:

A young man appears held down by masked men. His head is pulled back, with a knife to his throat. He does not struggle and appears resigned to his fate. Speaking in Arabic, the background speaker, or “narrator,” chants a number of Muslim prayers and supplications, mostly condemning Christianity, which, because of the Trinity, is referred to as a polytheistic faith: “Let Allah be avenged on the polytheist apostate”; “Allah empower your religion, make it victorious against the polytheists”; “Allah, defeat the infidels at the hands of the Muslims”; “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger.”

Then, to cries of “Allahu Akbar!”—or, “God is great!”—the man holding the knife to the apostate’s throat begins to slice away, even as the victim appears calmly mouthing a prayer. It takes nearly two minutes of graphic knife-carving to sever the Christian’s head, which is then held aloft to more Islamic cries and slogans of victory.

To state Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich understands Islam, Sharia, and Jihad is an understatement. He is a deep thinker and a doer. His plan to outlaw any form of Sharia law in any court system in the U.S. is perfect.  Currently 32 states allow for this failure to assimilate while the use subtle political means to secure their aim of changing our society. MURFREESBORO — Local and national Muslims called for state officials Saturday to rebuke state Rep. Rick Womick for remarks he made that all Muslims be removed from the U.S. military.

At least one local Muslim, Saleh Sbenaty of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, went further, saying Womick “needs to be impeached immediately.”

Womick, though, stood by his comments and offered no apology when contacted by The Daily News Journal.

Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole declared Wednesday at a conference in Washington that he had “recently directed all components of the Department of Justice to re-evaluate their training efforts in a range of areas, from community outreach to national security.”

As the video below shows, Muslims hate because that is all they have ever been taught. Does is surprise anybody that they teach very young children to become suicide bombers?

In my last post, I argued that there is a direct link between Islam and suicide bombing. Many readers of this blog considered this post to be offensive, tendentious, and even irresponsible. An addendum seems to be in order. Criticism of my argument fell into a few broad categories:

1. Sam, you don’t know a damn thing about Islam, the Koran, or Muslim history. Islam is a religion of peace that has been hijacked by extremists.

This objection is generally put forward by people who have not read the Koran or the hadith (the literature that recounts the sayings and actions of the Prophet). Some readers also pointed out that the bible contains some very scary passages.

This is true, and I discuss the consequences of biblical literalism in my other writing. But the bible is a vast, self-contradictory book.

ONE of the great failures of the post 9/11 decade all over the world has been the attempt to de-radicalise Islamist extremists. I have just returned from a week in Indonesia and I have to report to you that de-radicalisation there has been a bust.

I spent an afternoon with two leaders from the Institute for International Peace Building, YPP in its Indonesian acronym. YPP runs a series of de-radicalisation programs in Indonesian prisons. Their verdict was that they have some success with foot soldiers, and very occasionally with failed field commanders, but virtually never with those they term “ideologists”.

Unlike other de-radicalisation programs, their approach is not concerned much with theology and Islamic issues. When they are dealing with poorly educated people they will try to challenge the Islamist ideology, but overwhelmingly their focus is on helping inmates with a more practical view of life: how they can support their families or find a job.

Suffice to say Daniel, this was an amazingly well done article.  I would like to add, as you concluded, the problem lies not with Democracy but Muslims trying to understand it.   In the third world  where Islam has trapped Muslims, there are no substantial jobs, one opportunity for pay is to fight for a war lord. 

Muslim children are brought up to hate. They hate, Christians, Jews, and infidels, they know nothing but hate.  They hate and kill one another.  They don’t hate Israel, they hate the Jews.  

Islam is not a religion it’s a cult. In the name of what God other than Alla is killing a normal facet of every day life?

It’s been that way since the beginning and until these very poor uneducated individuals toss aside the shackles of Islam and form whatever type of system they choose it must be based upon the prospect of developing a jobs base. An impossible task?  We shall see.

The ultimate symbol of Muslim Democracy may not end up being the purple fingers of the Iraqi ballots but the smoke from burning churches and dead Coptic Christians in Egypt. While Iraq was tenuously balanced between Shiites and Sunnis, Arabs and Kurds, there is no such balance in Egypt. The average Egyptian is a Sunni Arab and thinks Christians are dogs. Church burnings are as close as Egypt is ever likely to get to democracy and we should be happy for that.

The Muslim world is so enthusiastic about democracy because it allows the majority to slap around the minority– at least more so than it’s already doing. And when there isn’t a clear majority to sit in the driver’s seat, they throw in musical chairs coalitions of different ethnic and religious factions in between bouts of civil war.

That’s the situation in Lebanon and in Iraq, but those countries are lucky because the minority there is a sizable enough to have a shot. That’s more than can be said for Egypt’s Christians who are big enough to be targets, but not big enough to take on the majority. Egypt and Iraq were the region’s last bastions of Pan-Arabism, which allowed Christians Arabs a limited stake in the country, but an Iraq and Egypt defined by an Islamic identity are countries incompatible with a non-Muslim minority.
