Istanbul Process: Censorship Through Subterfuge

When you create a legal construct which ties what we utter and publish with the completely unrelated actions of unrelated people on other continents, completely beyond our control, assigning blame to us for what they do on their own accord, then you are attempting to restrict free speech by forcing self-censorship.  You are, in effect, erecting a heckler’s veto and abandoning the First Amendment.

The fall session of the Istanbul Process has concluded; while we await publication of their report we can reflect on the manifold deceptions which passed the lips of two participants.  I have selected the most important phrases out of context for criticism.

It is not possible to advance respect for religious freedom & tolerance where Allah’s writ runs. There is neither tolerance nor respect for religions other than Islam in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other nations dominated by Islam.  The positive attitudes desired by Amb. Cook do not  and can not exist there because of the doctrines of Islam.

• Non-Muslims are cursed.

• 2:161. Verily, those who disbelieve, and die while they are disbelievers, it is they on whom is the Curse of Allâh and of the angels and of mankind, combined.
• 3:12. Say (O Muhammad ) to those who disbelieve: “You will be defeated and gathered together to Hell, and worst indeed is that place to rest.”
• 9:30. And the Jews say: ‘Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allâh, and the Christians say: Messiah is the son of Allâh. That is a saying from their mouths. They imitate the saying of the disbelievers of old. Allâh’s Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!

Only Islam is accepted.

Let’s assume Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs,  knows his way around a battleship. However, he clearly doesn’t know his way through the Koran. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have made such a fool of himself this past weekend at the Hoover Institution where he pressed literacy as a “new” deterrent to jihad because the potential “extremist” will then “understand the Koran for what it is and not merely what his mullah tells him it is.”

No record of anyone present crying out, “For God’s sake, man, have you a brain?” or harrumphing noticeably.

In 2003, justices Kennedy, Ginsburg and Breyer ruled in favor of a cross burning ban if done to intimidate. If Sotomayor and Elaine Kagan joined them on a Koran burning case today, then the court will have a 5 to 4 majority in favor of state laws outlawing burning the Koran. Considering Ginsburg, Breyer, Kagan and Sotomayor’s well known contempt for the Constitution, it leaves Justice Kennedy as the swing vote. A thin thread on which to hang the First Amendment.

In 1935 Sinclair Lewis wrote It Can’t Happen Here, a novel about the rise of tyranny in America, whose message was that it indeed can happen here. Just to remind us that in fact it “can happen here”, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer used the occasion of his appearance on noted legal forum, Good Morning America, to suggest that there may not be any First Amendment protection for burning the Koran.

“Holmes said it doesn’t mean you can shout ‘fire’ in a crowded theater,” Breyer told me. “Well, what is it? Why? Because people will be trampled to death. And what is the crowded theater today? What is the being trampled to death?”

In the twisted minds of the left Muslim “hate speech” will be just fine!

Breyer’s statement was every bit as flippant and ignorant of the Constitution and even previous Supreme Court decisions as you would expect from a Clinton appointee.

A’isha Bint Abu Bakr (child-bride) was Muhammad’s third wife. ‘A’isha herself narrated, “The Messenger of God married me in Shawwal in the tenth year after of his prophet-hood, three years before the Migration as I was six years old. I was nine years old when he consummated the marriage with me.” Ibn Hisham holds that “Muhammad married her when she was seven years old and consummated the marriage with her when they were in Medina when she was nine years old. The Messenger of God did not marry any other virgin but her.” ‘A´isha narrated, “The Messenger of God married me when I was still playing with the girls. I did not know that the Messenger of God married me until my mother took me and locked me up in the house. Then I realized that I was married.” A’isha also said, “I was playing with the girls during the lifetime of the Messenger of God. The Messenger of God came to me when I was playing with the girls, and asked me, ‘What is this, ‘A’isha?’ I said, ‘The horses of Solomon.’ He laughed.”

“I would be playing with my dolls,” narrated A’isha, “with the girls who were my friends, and the Prophet would come in and they would slip out of the house and he would go out after them and bring them back, for he was pleased for my sake to have them there.” Sometimes he would say “Stay where you are” before they had time to leave, and would also join in our games.”

On 15 August 2010: After years of endless debate, delayed decisions, additional deliberations, bald-faced lies and disinformation, followed by economic sanctions packages piled upon other ineffective economic sanctions packages, coupled with incessant Iranian and Western bellicose rhetoric which would have been considered casus belli in years gone by, the announcement made on Friday by Sergei Novikov, the spokesman for the Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency (Rosatom), that the fueling of the Iranian Bushehr nuclear plant will commence on Saturday, 21 August has left the State of Israel standing on the southern bank of a literal River Rubicon.

In the absense of a decision by Western governments, the United States of America in particular, to back up its own rhetoric with concrete actions, Israel has been left holding the baggage containing approximately 144 hours of time. At the conclusion of those 144 hours it will have become irreversibly too late for military action to halt Iran and its current apocalyptic regime’s nuclear weapons program. This is the conventional wisdom being related by many subject matter experts in the past 36 hours, experts such as former Ambassador John Bolton. Bolton’s comments to FoxNews last Friday speak of just such a window of time remaining.

Destruction or disfigurement of the facial beauty of a woman, the natural gift she is endowed with, is a horrible crime, worse than murder. So, the acts of throwing acid , intended to deface a girl , should be condemned as a worst kind of criminal act and the perpetrators must dealt with exemplary punishments.

It has been mentioned in the previous article that, in 2002, the Government of Bangladesh enacted a new law to deal with menace of acid attack. That new law calls for death penalty for throwing acid and strict vigilance on trading as well as use of acids.

According to the “Qisas” law of Islam, (eye for an eye, often applied in Pakistan), the perpetrator is made to suffer the similar fate as the victim. For the crime of causing blindness of the victim, the culprit may be punished by blinding him pouring drops of acid in his eyes. “But this law is not binding and is rarely enforced”, says a report in the New York Times. Iran has a similar law, and sentenced an attacker was blinded in 2004 for causing blindness to the victim.

In fact, the said Islamic law of “Qisas” was applied on a perpetrator Majid Movahedi in 2004, in Iran and he was blinded for throwing acid and blinding Ameneh Bahrami. At that time, Bahrami became the focus of international controversy after demanding that her attacker, Majid Emovahedi, must be punished by blinding him in a similar manner.

After Bahrami rejected the romantic advances of Majid Movahedi, a fellow student at the University of Tehran, he threw a bottle of acid on her face in October 2004. She subsequently underwent 17 surgeries in Spain and regained some of her eyesight as a result of transplanted eyes, but later on lost her sight completely due to an infection. (
