Remember when Jennifer Turner from the ACLU told a conference of aging leftist academics that “I did 120 interviews with American Muslims in Michigan and Texas. People reported that they were unable to give Zakat. Some had stopped giving entirely. Some felt fear of deportation or denial of citizenship”?

Remember when 20 Muslim charities wrote a letter to Pres. Obama decrying the “legal hurdles that have chilled well-intentioned American Muslim charitable activities for too long”?

In fact, it has been so bad, especially in an era where overall charitable giving in the United States has plummeted during the recession, that revenues of Islamic Relief USA, the biggest zakat collector/Islamic charity in the U.S., have increased by 30 percent a year.

Oh, er, uh… what?  Increased?!  How is that possible with fears of deportation, denials of citizenship, draconian rules, and a nationwide chilling effect?

Recall that, upon repeated questioning by a Congress out for infidel blood, Treasury official Daniel Glaser claimed that he had no doubt that there has been a “chilling effect” on Muslim charity although he didn’t “have numbers”?

And remember, most famously, when Pres. Obama apologized to the Muslim world because, “In the United States, rules on charitable giving have made it harder for Muslims to fulfill their religious obligation”?

We should all be so fortunate to be so fearful, chilled, and restricted if it meant that we’d be able to increase our giving by 30 percent a year.

Shariah-compliant finance is being encouraged and implemented in Western countries throughout the world. This article intends to bust many of the lies and myths associated with it, particularly the economic argument. It is based on an Australian context however it is applicable and transferable to any civilised country.

The main arguments in favour of Shariah-compliant finance are:

1. It will service the Muslim community who currently don’t have choice. This is notwithstanding Islamic Finance being an entirely modern construct that Muslims have just started to hear about and recent reports the industry is declining through lack of Muslim participation. This is not surprising, Islamic finance is more expensive and nobody wants to pay more for their financial products. Is more money in one’s pocket to wage jihad worth more Paradise points than those lost by devouring interest?

Once again, President Barack Hussein Obama has failed to lead.  While his narcissism lead him to think he could negotiate with people who’s sworn goal is to blow Israel off the map and bring down the United States of America. Aren’t we happy that we have such lack of leadership in the White House.

On 15 August 2010: After years of endless debate, delayed decisions, additional deliberations, bald-faced lies and disinformation, followed by economic sanctions packages piled upon other ineffective economic sanctions packages, coupled with incessant Iranian and Western bellicose rhetoric which would have been considered casus belli in years gone by, the announcement made on Friday by Sergei Novikov, the spokesman for the Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency (Rosatom), that the fueling of the Iranian Bushehr nuclear plant will commence on Saturday, 21 August has left the State of Israel standing on the southern bank of a literal River Rubicon.

In the absense of a decision by Western governments, the United States of America in particular, to back up its own rhetoric with concrete actions, Israel has been left holding the baggage containing approximately 144 hours of time. At the conclusion of those 144 hours it will have become irreversibly too late for military action to halt Iran and its current apocalyptic regime’s nuclear weapons program. This is the conventional wisdom being related by many subject matter experts in the past 36 hours, experts such as former Ambassador John Bolton. Bolton’s comments to FoxNews last Friday speak of just such a window of time remaining.
